Details of the RED shoot inside. Model: E. Kellie.
E. Kellie in RED.
I've been feeling creatively burnt-out recently, so in an effort to rejuvenate myself I called up Kellie and had her come over for something fun and low-stakes. If we got crappy photos we'd still have a good time, but we would have lost nothing; as it was, I was pleased with the results. Kellie brought mostly red and black wardrobe, so we went with that theme.
The location was in my ghetto garage studio: hot-shoe strobes and Walmart bedsheets for backdrop. I used three lights: a Vivitar 285HV into a white umbrella, another Vivitar 285HV behind the model as kicker, and a red-gelled Quantaray MS-1 for accent. The lighting setup is as follows:
Lighting setup for RED.
We played around a lot with the colour, lights etc. and screwed around with some funky poses. Basically we just said, 'okay... what next' and then came up with something out-of-the blue and went with it (out-of-the-red?). Halfway through we were interrupted by a wonderful tortellini dinner compliments of my sister, but that didn't really ruin the flow of the shoot—it gave us a bit more time to think up cool stuff. Eating with my family is always fun anyhow.
The biggest issue with post-processing was eliminating the spilled light from the rear V285. It was probably something I should have dealt with during or before the shoot, but I was lazy and didn't feel like it. Also, it was easy to eliminate since that same light gave very clear, crisp lines on the model.
So, for nothing to be lost, I definitely gained out of this shoot. It was fun and we both got some neat shots. Hooray!

I agree with Plarf, the third image is your best. The light is hitting her just right to define her collar bone and jaw and her pose is great. Wonderful job with the Walmart sheet, haha! I love the lighting setup too! -Cassie
